Join us to discuss “Take Me Home” by Dorothy Garlock.

Beloved author of historical romances, there are more than 20 million copies of Dorothy Garlock’s books in print. Set during World War II, Olivia Marsten never imagined she’d be a war bride. But when her childhood best friend surprises her with a marriage proposal, she reluctantly accepts. She can’t bear to send him off to serve in the Navy with a broken heart . . . even though her heart belongs to someone else. For her, sparks flew the minute she laid eyes on a mysterious stranger named Peter. And Peter feels the same, but he, too, is torn between love and duty.

Join us to discuss “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak

Often shelved with teen literature, the story follows Liesel as she steals books, learns to read with the help of her foster father, Hans, and shares stories with others. Themes of the Holocaust, war, friendship, and the power of words are explored as the family hides a Jewish man named Max. More unusually, the novel is narrated by a character like no other : Death. As always, new and casual members are welcome!
