July
MadScience “History Hunters” — Tuesday, July 7, 11 a.m.
We’re out in Washington Township’s Municipal complex for a hands-on paleontology workshop for kids! Let’s put on our paleontologist hats and go looking for some historical treasure. Program is for children in Gr. K – Gr. 6 only. Space is limited and you must pre-register by calling the library at 724-929-6642.
MadScience “Dinosaurs!” — Thursday, July 9, 11 a.m.
We’re in our usual spot at Community Bank Park in North Belle Vernon for another visit from MadScience, this time for Pre K – Gr. 2. We’ll be investigating the habits, needs and characteristics of everyone’s favorite creature from the past — dinosaurs. If you missed this at another library, you are welcome but space is limited so you must pre-register by calling the library at 724-929-6642.
Washi Tape Deco Day — Tuesday, July 14, 11 a.m.
Let’s make some things with washi tape for writing letters and cards — but with a dino theme. Intended for kids 5 and up, the program is open without registration.
Evening Book Club — Wednesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m.
“355 : The Women of Washington’s Spy Ring” by Kit Sergeant. The novel chronicles the lives of three remarkable women who use daring, skill, and, yes, a bit of flirtation, to help liberate America. Copies will be available and it is available as an ebook on Libby.
Storytime in the Park — Thursdays, July 16, 23 & 30, 11 a.m.
For three weeks we’ll “dig” into reading. Every week will be books that have a digging theme like digging dogs, farmers digging to plant, and dinosaurs (because they were dug up!)
Mary Gall, “The Bug Lady” — Tuesday, July 28, 11 a.m.
Come see amazing insects (and maybe an arachnid, too!) Become an entomologist for a day. View her array of live insects close up as you learn interesting facts about each. Enjoy the opportunity to hold those that are safe to do so! All ages are welcome for this program. ** Please, NO BUG SPRAY or HAND SANITIZER**
